Welcome to Solihull Writers! (We’re in our seventh decade!)
Formed in 1967 as "Solihull Writers’ Workshop", we are one of the longest established writers’ groups in Central England. We are a continuously evolving community of local people who have a shared interest in writing. Our programme of activity is designed to encourage all aspects of writing and to support the different writing interests and ability levels of members.
We are a free group to join, with no charges for attendance!
Meetings start promptly at 7.30pm on the second and fourth Thursdays of each month except August, and on the second Thursday only in December. They are held in Solihull Core Library. See the 2025/26 programme here
The library is approximately 10 minutes walk from Solihull Railway station.
Our meetings are fairly informal, with each session led by a different group member, focussing on a particular theme. The programme changes from year to year and we welcome new ideas. We usually begin with sharing writing news, any business relating to the group and a short, light-hearted writing exercise to get the creative juices flowing. There are opportunities throughout the year to share our work with the group for constructive feedback, whether poetry, short stories or extracts from larger writing projects. We also hold annual Fiction, Poetry and Non-Fiction competitions which are judged externally.
The meeting usually closes at 9.30pm.
We hope you feel inspired to come and join us!
